EYCの歴史
江の島ヨットクラブ（EYC）は、1964年東京五輪ヨット競技をホストするため日本を代表するヨットクラブとして、名誉会長、会長にそれぞれ当時の山縣勝見日本ヨット協会会長、内山岩太郎神奈川県知事が就任し、江の島ヨットハーバーに創設されました。
以来数多くの主要レースを開催し、また我々クラブのメンバーが名選手として輝かしい戦績を修めることにとどまらず、日本セーリング連盟の役員としても幅広く活躍し、これまでの五輪には監督をはじめ計２０名もの選手たちが日本代表として選出されています。
また1965年には、日本ヨット界の将来を見据え、Royal Danish Yacht Clubから我が国最初の6艇のオプティミスト級（OP級）の寄贈を受け、EYC内に日本初の子供たちにセーリングを教える部門として江の島ヨットクラブジュニアを発足させ、今日まで600名以上のセーラーを育成し、20名以上のOP級 全日本チャンピオン、３名の五輪日本代表選手を輩出してきました。
クラブ活動の意義
EYC創設から半世紀余、この間、日本のスポーツ・クラブを取り巻く環境は大きく変わりました。
クラブの活動が、かつての企業、学校等の団体活動主体の時代から、個々人の自由意思を中心とする活動に移行し、さらには近年では、家庭・仕事とは異なる第三の場所（サード・プレイス）として、クラブ活動を通して社会参画・地域貢献を実現できる場所としての役割が期待されています。
EYCでは、まずは会員自らがEYCのクラブライフをエンジョイし、そしてEYCの活動を通して、ヨットクラブならではの地域貢献につながるクラブを目指しており、主な活動として神奈川県から公益目的事業認定を受けた以下の4事業を毎年運営しています。
- ノルウェーフレンドシップヨットレース（日本とノルウェーの国際親善ヨットレース＆パーティ）をはじめとするヨットレースの開催事業
- ジュニア育成事業（江の島ヨットクラブジュニアの主催、ジュニア・ユース世代の教育・育成）
- 所有艇貸出事業（EYC所有のレスキュー艇、ディンギー艇の貸出やレース講習カリキュラムの提供）
- 地域貢献事業（江の島天王祭海上観覧艇運航、江の島係留艇クリスマスイルミネーションほか）
これらはEYCの活動の一部ですが、EYCの永い歴史のなかで先達の方々の努力と実績を神奈川県に認めていただき、現在に引き継がれているEYCの財産であり、EYC活動の大きな特徴の一つです。
会員自らがレースに参加し、或いは運営を楽しみながら、会員以外の皆様方にも国際親善ヨットレースやジュニア活動、イベント活動にご参加いただき、子供から大人まで、ヨットレースやセーリングを学び、海を楽しむ機会を提供させていただく事業なのです。
使命をつないで
EYCは、1964東京五輪ヨット競技のホストクラブとして創設されて以来、関係各位の皆様のご支援のもと、日本におけるセーリングと海洋文化の普及・発展の使命を担ってまいりました。これからも富士山を望む美しい相模湾と江の島を舞台にセーリングスポーツやヨットクラブ文化の素晴らしさに親しんでいただく機会を提供し、地域に貢献するクラブであり続けたいと考えています。

I am pleased to welcome you to the web site of EYC.
First of all, I’d like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation in our club.
Enoshima Yacht Club (EYC) was founded as the host yacht club for the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Yacht competition in Enoshima Yacht Harbor,with the Honorary Ｃommodore, Ｋatsumi Yamagata, Japan Yachting Association chairman, and with the Ｃommodore, Iwataro Uchiyama, the Mayer of Kanagawa prefecture.
Since then, our club members have not only mastered the glorious record as a famous players, but have also played a wide variety of roles as officers of the Japan Sailing Federation. Many players have been selected as representatives of Japan.
In 1965 Royal Danish Yacht Club donated the first 6 boats Optimist class (OP class) to EYC. As a result, we started the Enoshima Yacht Club Junior of the first department to teach sailing to children in Japan, and have trained more than 600 sailors to date, and have produced more than 20 OP-class All-Japan champions and three Olympic representatives from Japan.
Club activities
At EYC, the members themselves enjoy the club life, and through the activities, we would like to contribute to the community. About our public utilities, EYC operates the following 4 projects that have been certified by Kanagawa prefecture.
- Hosting of yacht races including the Norwegian Friendship Yacht Race (some yacht races & party in commemoration of the friendship between Norway and Japan)
- Junior and youth training and development (management of EYCJ and coaching and training)
- Ｓailing dinghy performance for training and providing some lessons for races.
- Local contribution business( management boat service viewing festival Enoshima Tennousai , Christmas illumination, etc)
These activities have been recognized by Kanagawa Prefecture for the efforts and achievements by our ancestors over a long history and it is a property of EYC inherited to the present.
There are the opportunities for everyone to participate in international friendly yacht races, parties, events, and to get a chance to learn and enjoy yacht racing and sailing from children to adults.
To fulfill the Mission of EYC
Since EYC was founded, we have spread sailing and ocean culture. We would like to continue to provide sailing opportunities overlooking the beautiful Sagami Bay and Mount Fuji, and to contribute the local society. It is our mission.
